Salar de Uyuni

Dormant Volcano

On the way to Bolivia’s massive Salar de Uyuni I briefly crossed the Chilean border and into the Atacama desert. Here I saw vast coloured lakes, given their vibrant greens, reds and blues by the minerals of the neighbouring volcanoes. Sitting calmly in the distance was this ancient beast, a dormant volcano reflecting on its former life.

Palenque Ruins

The ancient Mayan ruins of Palenque are located deep in the jungles of southern Mexico in the state of Chipas. I took a day to explore the ruins on Christmas eve. Only 10% of the ruins have been uncovered, the rest lie hidden in the deep forest surrounding the site.

Rio Harbour

Taganga

I spent a few weeks in Taganga, a small fishing village on Colombia’s Caribbean coastline. An extremely relaxing place with night after night of glorious sunsets.

Canaima Falls

Waterfalls located in Canaima National Park, Venezuela. I came across these falls during our trek to see Salto Angel, the tallest waterfall in the world.

Árbol de Piedra

Arbol de Piedra, translates to “Tree of Stone”, is a rock formation I came across on the way to Bolivia’s Salar de Uyuni. The peculiar formation is located in the Eduardo Avaroa Andean Fauna National Reserve, deep in the south of Bolivia.

Lost City of the Incas

I sat on the terraces of Machu Picchu to absorb the scene infront of me. The sun rising from behind the mountains, the remains of an ancient civilization perched on the mountain, this is truly a magical place.
