Nissan’s first ever V12 engine found its home in the 1969 Nissan R382 race car. The mid-mounted 6.0L unit delivered 600hp to those insanely wide rear tyres. The aerodynamic R382 was built to compete in the FIA Group 7 category, racing in the 320 mile 1969 Japanese Grand Prix at Fuji International Speedway. R382’s placed 1st and 2nd in this race, beating such cars as the famous Porsche 917 and Toyota 7.
